Hi everyone. That's right, I finally decided to put up a second post. As I am a natural introvert, I'm not very enthusiastic about posting up innermost thoughts, etc. even if it is to a small group of close friends. However, as my son has established himself as an unavoidable topic of conversation and news, I figured I'd be like every other lame parent and post about him instead.
That's right, it's gonna be a boy. Jillian and I came back from the mega-ultrasound session on Friday with pics of a bouncing baby boy. Jillian feels the kid already takes after me, because in every single picture, he's trying to hide his face behind his arms. I pointed out that he may not like showing his face, but he sure likes showing his boy-parts -- each of the three different ultrasound techs and doctors that took a crack at poking about Jillian's belly took one look and said "He's a boy, and he sure isn't shy about it". Negative four months old, and already lewd. The shame.

As far as everything else, it's going well, but we've just been slammed. The kid is apparently part-vampire, because Jillian struggles to get to the end of the workday and then passes out within an hour or so of getting home on many days. Things are going well at work, but we're both putting in lots of hours to try to get ahead so that we can slack somewhat with the wedding and baby madness that is forthcoming. Things are fairly well in order for the wedding (which is less than a month away now, and I'm very glad you're all planning on coming), but there's lots of little details that still need to be addressed that we keep punting to "later".
Kid planning is largely on hold until after the wedding is over, but now that we know it's a he, I guess we need to start trying to figure out what to name him. I realize that I now spend a lot of my music-listening time planning on what songs can be adapted for baby use -- either baby-friendly songs that can be used as-is (quite a lot of New Order and Cure songs work surprisingly well, as do many Ramones songs), or songs that I can sing as lullabies. Most songs that I like have some weird lyrics, but they really can't be any worse than "rockabye baby". Speaking of rockabye baby, there's a whole line of instrumental versions of Nirvana, NIN, Cure, Radiohead songs that have been rerecorded as lullabies, which are generally speaking awesome. Any thoughts for baby music are greatly appreciated.
